This project was made as a test for Editora Viseu, to create a cover for the book Memórias Póstumas de Brás Cubas from the author Machado de Assis.
Creation Process
I explored various references for the same book featuring distinct illustrated covers. Intrigued by the concept of incorporating plants and mushrooms to overlay the illustrations, as well as the idea of nested silhouettes, I decided to integrate these elements with the main character, the coffin, and the author.
My goal was to take a modern approach, bringing these graphic designs with color. I chose to use light orange hues on the coffin to add vibrancy, creating a compelling contrast with the overall deep, desaturated colors of the entire cover.
